Dr. Shrinarayan Karaiya is a seasoned pharmaceutical professional with over 16 years of extensive experience in analytical research and development. Currently serving as the Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Analytical Development at Mankind Pharma Limited, Dr. Karaiya is renowned for his expertise in systematic method development and validation using various analytical techniques essential for successful product development.
Dr. Karaiya holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Jiwaji University, Gwalior, where he also completed his Master of Science in Chemistry and Bachelor of Science degrees. His profound knowledge and experience have been instrumental in advancing pharmaceutical analytical research, focusing on regulated and semi-regulated markets, particularly the US and Europe.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Karaiya has held pivotal roles at several leading pharmaceutical companies. At Mankind Pharma Limited, he heads a team of 15 analytical scientists, supporting the development of various drug substances for US, European, and ROW markets. His responsibilities include providing technical support and interpreting data from analytical developments, overseeing method development, validation, method transfer, and stability analysis for APIs. Dr. Karaiya ensures laboratory compliance, responds to technical queries, and coordinates with inter-departmental teams to meet regulatory requirements and implement the latest guidelines.
Before his tenure at Mankind Pharma, Dr. Karaiya served as a Senior Research Scientist at TEVA API India Ltd., where he led a team in developing analytical methods for DMF projects. His role involved method development, validation, verification, and routine analysis, as well as characterizing new products and their impurities using instrumental data like XRD, NMR, Mass, TGA, DSC, and IR. He provided technical support during analytical method transfers and routine analyses at QC labs, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Karaiya worked as a Research Officer at Glenmark Generics Ltd., Mumbai. His responsibilities included developing instrumental analytical methods, reaction monitoring, data interpretation, and preparing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for instrument performance and maintenance.
Dr. Karaiya's extensive experience is complemented by his expertise in handling a wide range of analytical instruments, including HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS, GC, Ion Chromatography, UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, and Infrared Spectrophotometry. His technical acumen, combined with his strong leadership qualities, has enabled him to build and manage effective analytical teams, driving successful project outcomes and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
