Biography:
Dr. Rupak Kumar is a Consultant at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in New Delhi, India. He earned his PhD in Biological Sciences from BITS Pilani, India, where he focused on biological approaches for treating industrial effluents containing morpholine. Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Kumar conducted postdoctoral research at MIGAL Galilee Research Institute in Israel. There, he investigated the enzymatic degradation of patulin, a mycotoxin, exploring the efficacy of engineered enzymes for removing patulin from infected apples. This work expanded his expertise in enzyme biotechnology and food safety.
Dr. Kumar's research spans environmental biotechnology, bioremediation, and the development of sustainable solutions for xenobiotic pollutant treatment. His work includes significant contributions to the fields of olive mill wastewater treatment and laccase production. He has also made strides in developing point-of-care diagnostic tools.
With 18 peer-reviewed journal articles and 3 book chapters to his credit, Dr. Kumar is an active contributor to scientific literature. He serves on the editorial boards of several international journals in microbiology, biotechnology, and environmental science. Dr. Kumar is committed to science communication and has presented his findings at numerous national and international conferences.
