Stereochemistry

Stereochemistry is a branch of chemistry that deals with the study of the spatial arrangement of atoms in molecules and the ways in which this arrangement affects the properties and reactivity of the molecule. There are two main aspects of stereochemistry:

Stereochemistry is important in a number of fields, including medicine, where it is used to explain the differences in the activity of enantiomers and why some compounds are more effective than others. Stereochemistry is also important in the synthesis and design of new compounds, as it provides a way to control the spatial arrangement of atoms and predict the reactivity of molecules.
